Premarital counseling continues to be one of the most important decisions that you and your partner could ever make before officially getting married. At Healthy Soul Talk LLC, our premarital counseling service is a unique program focused on 10 core areas of a healthy marriage.
Marrying Well Premarital Counseling Program
The Marrying Well Premarital Counseling Program is the inspiration of Dr. Kimberly Thomas, founder of Healthy Soul Talk LLC. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a specialized training in Marriage and Family Counseling. She has been working with couples for over 15 years and incorporates a trauma-informed approach into every service. Dr. Thomas is dedicated to staying abreast on current best practices and professional training to ensure clients experience efficient and innovative practical services.
During the program, couples explore the dynamics of their relationship before they say “I do”. This will enable both to discover their strengths and vulnerabilities and create an action plan. The Marrying Well Premarital Counseling Program is provided to all couples, regardless of gender, spiritual background or sexual orientation.

Benefits and Expectations of Premarital Counseling
· Enhance communication skills
This experience opens the lines of communication to better understand the needs and differences in love languages. There is also opportunity to explore and uncover how to use compassion, empathy and trust to build a solid structure for your union.
· Fosters an atmosphere to address issues
Premarital counseling also provides the opportunity for couples to care-front, yes we said it, care-front issues that may cause friction and disconnection. In this safe space, you and your counselor will be able to explore such issues as money concerns, sex expectations, and plans to have children. This environment promotes authenticity, individual expression and a collective effort to find a resolve.
· Increases the ability to plan a future
Marriage takes work, loyalty, dedication, and planning. A premarital counseling experience can help a couple create goals and action steps to build a solid structure that promote expectations and flexibility. This experience can help couples focus on setting healthy goals and maintaining vitality.
· Couples discover new things about themselves and partner
What a great way to learn more about your partner! Weekly homework assignments and sessions will enable you to discuss, process, and learn more about each other’s belief systems, vulnerabilities, strengths, and areas of improvement. The counselor will probe and provide exploratory exercises (role-plays, modeling) to give couples a here and now experience that promotes emotional wellness and support as both share such sacred information from their past and present.
Is this the right time for premarital Counseling?
The Marrying Well Premarital Counseling Program is six sessions, typically held weekly for 60 minutes. Some couples engage in the program after setting a wedding date. Others seek services after becoming engaged. It is important to talk to each other about the best convenience to start the program to ensure ample time is given to the process and less pressure to rush the experience.
